Traveling DOWNUNDER (spanish below)

If you are planning your trip Downunder you should do a lot of research, because there are thousands of things to do/see. Australia is the biggest island and the smallest continent in the world and offers many different scenarios to spend some unique holidays. Are you looking for sports nice sports for some sport activities? Or are you after a paradisiacal beach to relax? Wanna pop into the rainforest for some adventure? Into experience the desert? I could keep on telling you more options that Australia has to offer you…

Diverse are the paths you can follow to find your place at Downunder, but today I would like to give you a hand. My parents are coming over in a month, so I have been given the task to plan their trip. Consequently I have been through dozens of web pages trying to get the best spots to stay. So that you don’t have to go all over it again I wanted to tell you about 2 webpages I found quite usefull.

The first one is hosted by the Australian Governance. Pop in and take a look it’s quit interesting. The second one is the online version of a specialized magazine about Australia. Combining both you ma get to know some unique places or areas where to spend some nice days off. I haven’t done much traveling in the area (meaning country) yet, but if you want me to check some places.. I would be welcome. LOL

Viajando a DOWNUDER (AUSTRALIA)

Si estas planeando tu viaje a Downunder vas a tener que navegar mucho por la net, porque hay miles de cosas para hacer. La isla más grande del mundo y a la vez el continente más pequeño, tiene una serie de escenarios únicos e inolvidables, para pasar unas vacaciones de lujo. Estas buscando un lugar para desarrollar tu lado extremo? O estas mas para tirarte en una playa paradisiaca panza arriba? Te llama meterte en la mitad de la selva y descubar especies exóticas? O tenes ganas de sentir la voz del desierto? Puedo seguir así todo el día…

Son muchos los caminos que podes empezar a caminar hasta llegar a la información buscada. Para que no te pudras del viaje, como me paso a mi, sin siquiera haber pisado el continente, acá te paso unos tips. Tengo a mis viejos viniendo d visita en un mes y estoy a cargo de armarles el viaje. Incontables son las páginas webs por las que anduve hasta que pege con las mas potables. :

La primera es una página a cargo del Gobierno Australiano. Péguenle una ojeada, hay buena data. La segunda es una versión online de una revista especializada en Australia como un destino turístico. Combinando las dos pag tienen que tener buen material para hacerse una idea de que ver/hacer y pasar unas buenas vacas en el Downunder. Todavía no viaje mucho, por Australia en general, pero si me dan una mano… chequeo lo que quieran! jj

Ups.. I did it again!!!

The best thing about working alone at the office is that you choose what music to hear while you are working. I’m one of those who like to listen into music, no matter what, as long as there is something playing around. But things change when you have the power to choose what to hear. Correct me if I ain’t right!

La 100 has been my wing in almost all my shifts at Annam Apartments. “El show de la noticia” and “La trasnoche de la 100” are some of the broadcast I listen to. Some months ago I got in touch with “El show de la notica” by sending emails and getting them transmitted. Well, today I tried something similar but with another show: “La trasnoche de la 100”.

I was taking care of my duties when I heard that the host said the temperature in AUSTRALIA. Don’t ask me why he was telling the listeners in argentina and in the world about Australia... but he did. In order to let him know that there was someone on the other side of the globe listening to him... I send him an email, telling them that I was listening.

The funniest thing is that I had to turn the radio off, cause I had to take a call, and once the call was finished I turned it on again.. and there he was reading my mail. THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON... we may not know why.. but they do..

Ups... lo volvi a hacer!

Lo mejor de ser el único en la oficina, desde mi punto de visa, es que podes elegir que música poner. Yo soy una de esas personas que no se calienta que música suene, siempre y cuando haya algo sonando de fondo. Sin embargo, no hay nada mejor que tener el poder de elegir que escuchar. Corríjanme si estoy equivocado!

Desde que empecé a trabajar en el hotel, la 100 es mi convirtió en mi compañía. Dado que casi siempre laburo de tarde noche llego a escuchar “El show de la noticia” y “La trasnoche de la 100”. Hace un par de meses pude ponerme en contacto con Petti y leyeron mi mail al aire. Mucha buena onda. Hoy paso algo similar pero con otro programa: “La trasnoche de la 100”.

Estaba haciendo unas cosas del laburo cuando escuche que Pato empezó a tirar la temperatura de Australia, más precisamente Syd. No me pregunten cual era el fin, o que le interesa a la gente en baires que hr o temperatura hay acá… pero tiro todos los datos. Esto me motivo y me puse en contacto, para que desde baires se den cuenta que desde lejos también los escuchamos. Mande mail…

Las cosas pasan en la vida por algún motivo, si bien no sabemos por qué... pero tienen. A unos minutos de mandar el mail sonó el tel y tuve que bajar el volumen de la radio. Estuve como 10 min al tel explicándole unas cosas a un compañero de laburo. Prendo la radio pensando o que no iban a leer mi mensaje o ya lo habían leído… y o casualidad estaban empezando a leerlo.

Concluí mi mail con el famoso ABRAZO DE CANGURO, para que cualquiera que me conoce sepa que ese TOMAS con ABRAZO DE CANGURO… era yo. De todos modos no creo que me hayan escuchado, era n como las 4 de la matina en arg!

It's Earth Hour (spanish below)

Earth Hour is an annual international lights out event happening on Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 p.m. The goal is to get as many individuals and businesses as possible to turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness about climate change and demonstrate that people are ready to take personal action. For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

Earth Hour shows that, together, our small actions can make a big difference to help fight climate change. In 2008, almost 10 million Canadians turned off their lights for Earth Hour in a show of concern to the government. This demonstrates that people are taking personal action to reduce their footprint and that they expect the same level of commitment from government.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. This is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations. VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

ES LA HORA DEL PLANETA

Earth Hour, o tu traducción en español “Es la hora del planeta”, es un evento internacional en el cual personas y organizaciones apagan las luces de sus establecimientos, para demostrar su preocupación por el cambio climático que esta sufriendo nuestro planeta. La idea principal es incentivar a la mayor cantidad de individuos y organizaciones a que apaguen las luces durante una hora para demostrar que estamos dispuestos a tomar conciencia y actuar contra el cambio climático. Este 28 de Marzo se volverá a palpitar el Earth Hour en todo el mundo a partir de las 8:30pm (hora de Australia).

Por primera vez en la historia, personas de todas las edades, nacionalidades, razas tienen la oportunidad de usar sus interruptores para demostrar su voluntad. Dejar las luces prendidas implica estar a favor del calentamiento global; apagarlas implicar estar a favor del Planeta. WWF está utilizando esta iniciativa para juntar 1 billón de votos y presentarlos ante los líderes mundiales en la conferencia que se dará en Copenhagen sobre el cambio climático.

Earth Hour surgió en Sydeny en el 2007, cuando 2.2 millones de hogares y organizaciones apagaron las luces durante una hora. El mensaje fue captado por todo el mundo y llevo a que en el 2008 la misma iniciativa fuese emprendida por 50 millones de personas apagando luces en todo el globo. Iconos turísticos como Golden Gate Bridge en San Francisco (USA), el Coliseo en Roma (Italia), la opera de Sydney (Australia) y el famoso cartel de Coca Cola en Time Square NYC (USA) apagaron las luces dejando al mundo sin su belleza por una hora. Earth Hour nos permite comprender que el grano de arena que cada uno de nosotros aporta, tiene valor. Que un simple acto puede llevar a un gran cambio. En el 2008 alrededor de 10 millones de canadienses se acoplaron a este movimiento incentivando a su gobierno a que tome conciencia sobre el calentamiento global.

Este año, Earth Hour encaro el desafío de una manera innovadora. La campaña esta encarada a votar a favor o en contra del planeta. Por primera vez en la historia de la humanidad se llevara a cabo una votación voluntaria en la cual no importa en qué país haya nacido uno, sino en que planeta nació. Hay que tomar cartas en el asunto. Hay que pensar en nuestro futuro, en el de las generaciones futuras. Hasta el momento se espera que 1 billón de personas de unos 74 países VOTEN a favor del planeta y vos podes ayudar a que este número se incremente.

Facebook left me Down! (spanish below)

Back in history people tend to attend sport events, business meetings, friends birthdays, and many other celebration to socialize. This has changes drastically in the last 5 years. Technology has come to invade our lives, for good. Communication channels have evolved, and this has impact out life in a way we never ever dreamed of. At the beginning, internet was brought to us as a one way channel. Likewise TV, we were allowed to watch, and search for stuff, but we couldn’t do any input. Year’s later internet made one massive breakthrough, turning into a two ways communication channel. You all know how this affected our lives.

This achievement may be the consequence or the cause for people to jump into the net and start uploading stuff. At the beginning it was all about blogging, the about loading pics and then videos. Business driven technophiles saw in this new technology the possibility of making some millions of dollars and that’s how we all got involved with virtual social networks.

I have to admit that I was one of those who loved Facebook from day 1. I was captivated by the idea of getting a daily update of my friend’s status, to be able to see their pics without having to get to a specific webpage, and so one… From my point of view, it was almost the best! But lately… it has lost its charm.

Did you know that FACEBOOK claimed to own all the information you loaded into that social network, meaning: pics, ideas you shared, videos, and so on? Well, yes they did. Luckily millions and millions of people all around the world complained about it and the y dismiss the police. Be aware of this kind of reactions, cause they may pop up in a near future.

What bothers me even more is that they removed my latest movie production (LOL). I was quite surprised when I logged into FACEBOOK and I found a big blue sign telling me that I didn’t have the copyrights to upload the movie. Well, FACEBOOK, as many as other Films that they upload in your fu**** network… OF COURSE I DO NOT HAVE A WRITTEN PERMIT of the soundtrack I used. If all of us were supposed to have the copyright of everything we upload there wouldn’t be much on your social network.

FACEBOOK me desepciona

A lo largo de la historia, con el fin de socializar los seres humanos han desarrollado y participado en diferentes tipos de encuentros. Deportes, negocios, política, cumple años y otros tantos encuentros han permitido al hombre socializar. Esto se ha modificado en los últimos 5 años. La tecnología llego para quedarse. Los medios de comunicación evolucionaron, impactando en nuestra vida de una manera en la cual nadie podría haberse imaginado. En los comienzos del internet masivo, el flujo de información era únicamente hacia una dirección. Al igual que la TV, nos permitía observar y buscar información sobre cosas de nuestro interés, pero seguíamos imposibilitados de compartir nuestra opinión al respecto. Años más tarde internet progreso y se convirtió en una canal bidireccional, abriendo nuevas puertas.

Este logro puede ser considerado la causa o consecuencia de la necesidad de los internautas por interactuar en este nuevo medio. De este modo surgieron los blogs, los fotologs, los chats y pág. como youtube. Los nerds de computación con un ojo para los negocios vieron en estos avances tecnológicos la posibilidad de hacer un par de millones de dólares y así fue como surgieron las redes sociales virtuales.

Admito haber sido uno de esos que se convirtió en un fan de Facebook desde el día en que se creó un usuario. Me cautivo la idea de tener un medio que me mantuviera al tanto de las aventuras de mis amigos a través de fotos, de saber sus status, de comentarios, etc. Mirara por donde lo mirase, era CASI perfecto. Lamentablemente… durante los últimos meses comenzó a mostrar sus debilidades!

Estaban al tanto de que FACEBOOK pretendió apropiarse de toda la información que los usuarios subieron a esta red social? Esto significa que los usuarios subieron fotos que valgan la pena publicar, FACEBOOK se podría atribuir la autoría de la foto y cobrar por la venta de la misma, dejando al verdadero autor de la obra desamparado. Si no lo sabían, sucedió. Gracias a que miles y millones de usuarios protestaron contra esta política, FACEBOOK se echo atrás.

De todos modos lo que más me disgusta es que me borraron uno de los videos que “produje”. Me lleve una muy ingrata sorpresa el día de hoy cuando abrí mi FACEBOOK y encontré un mensaje diciendo que me habían removido el video por no tener los derechos de autor del mismo. Sr. FACEBOOK, así como mi video no tiene los derechos de autor sobre la música que tienen como soundtrack, puedo asegurar que millones de videos de los cuales ALIMENTAN su WEB tampoco los tienen. Si se cumpliera al pie de la letra esta norma, FACEBOOK tendría mucho menos material… entiéndase menos usuarios. Consecuentemente, porque no SENSURA TODO?
